The 2025 SLMFA AGM was held on April 10th. While the official minutes won’t be ratified until the our 2026 AGM there are a few highlights we can share.
End of an Era: This year marks the end of an era for Minor Football in Sylvan Lake as Jeremy Braitenback officially stepped down from his role as President after more than a decade of leadership. Other long-time Executive members Jeremy Martins and Crystal Loewen also concluded their tenures this year as well.
On behalf of all the coaches, officials, volunteers and families over the years we’d like to express our gratitude for your service.
New Executive Board: The organization they are leaving behind is in good hands however, with a number of experienced board members remaining and volunteering their time to step into key roles. U16 Bantam Lions Head Coach Geoff Rambaut returns to the board to take over as President while current board member Nathan Geib takes over the Vice-President role from Michael Williams, who is staying on the board in a Director role. While new to the board but certainly not new to anyone associated with the SLMFA, we welcome Chrystal Scanland and Abby Sarkozi – who have agreed to join the Executive team as Treasurer and Secretary respectively.
Board of Directors: The list of Directors-at-Large contains a mix of experienced directors and new faces. Joining Williams at the table for another year are Victor Sloboda, John Flinn and Jamieson Blinkhorn along with first time board members Dave Symons, Eryn Geddes and Heather Kowalchuk.
We’re excited to have so many enthusiastic and dedicated volunteers willing to spend their time with Sylvan Lake Minor Football.
